Sociological Perspective Paper Conflict Theory Survivor JR Noia Sociology 200 Mr. Vadim Jigoulov December 10, 2005 Abstract This paper will focus on the hit TV show Survivor. This show deals with a group of Americans that are picked to live in a harsh environment in different places around the world. In seeing the show through a sociologist�s point of view, I think the best theory to use explaining what gives this show its appeal, is the conflict theory. Introduction The show Survivor has been running on CBS since the year 2000. It runs about two shows a year and has maintained its popularity over this time span. This year it was voted best reality show and takes place in the Mayan ruins of Guatemala. Nineteen players are chosen to go to random parts of the globe to try and �Outwit, Outplay and Outthink� the competition as the show�s motto goes. The show starts with two tribes and each week these two tribes compete for a reward challenge and an immunity challenge.
