Managing in a Healthy Organization Managing is not an easy task to execute. Especially when you do not have any training and knowledge on how to utilize this skill. Is managing the same as Leading? No, It is not. But I use to think that it was because when I managed I lead employees to become more self-determining in what they were doing. I felt that my job as a manager was to build an employee into a leadership position in which I always did. According to (Bateman-Snell, 2003, 366) Leadership is one who influences others to attain goals. It can be learned and taught and managing requires structuring the organization, staffing it with capable people. There are several managers in the work place that does not know how to manage and is take each day step by step just to get complete their shift. And you have some employees who is able to lead but some supervisor do not want tell to lead because they fear that they will be recognized more and their job may be in danger.
