Putting on a play requires great team effort. For each actor on stage there are many people backstage whose work is essential to the performance. Without a spirit of cooperation, the theatre company cannot stretch, grow and feel the exhilaration of the stage. Everyone contributes something special. This was clearly demonstrated in the drama production, Puppets of Society, written by Jennifer Hardy. The play was based on Epic theatre, which developed in the early 1930�s and then later evolved into Theatre of cruelty. I carried out the production role of the director. The director serves as the great organiser, trainer and motivator of the production. The director also provides inspiration and is the creative force behind the play. The director is a principal in the theatre field who oversees and arranges the mounting of a play by joining various activities and aspects of the production.
