Marta Valdes Mrs. Marrero English III Honors Gifted 01 September 2006 The 17th century lead the way to the foundation of the United States of America. Lurking through were two men of great significance in American history, these two men would go on and establish the history of American literature. John Smith and William Bradford were phenomenal writers whose writings have been passed and studied for generations. William Bradford wrote his historical account Of Plymouth Plantation which depicted the voyage of the Pilgrims and the hardships that they encountered. John Smith wrote a pamphlet titled �A Description of New England� to persuade people in England to migrate to the new land. The two writers gave their audience two extremely diverse depictions of the new land but in effect both depictions served to bring people into the colonies. They were two men, with different motives, different depictions, and different forms of writing that paved the way to further European settlements in the Americas. William Bradford wrote Of Plymouth Plantation as an historical account.......
