�What I find in Shakespeare is a new definition of humanity, one that provides us with our fundamental concepts of what it means to be human� (James, 79). So closely are Shakespeare�s works related to the human characteristics that makes this saying true. This is why such situations create such strong religious, particularly Christian, elements in Shakespeare�s plays. One play in particular that includes several elements of Christianity is The Tempest. This play takes the audience on an in depth tour of the art to forgiveness and how such vicious actions can be forgiven. It also delivers well-rounded examples of chastity, a coveted Christian belief, and references the supernatural or witchcraftery forces that are believed to be evil and should be destroyed, also exemplified through Christian teachings. Overall, The Tempest draws many of its ideas from Christian elements that confirm the play�s central themes.
