Julia Sound English 102 Over the years, the growing numbers of immigrants in the United States has caused hostility and stereotypical views to arise. Many Americans begin to unjustly blame immigrants for economic, social, and political problems. This issue in the United States interests me because I grew up in a very diverse neighborhood, and was faced with racial and discriminatory problems everyday. Many considered the Hispanics in my neighborhood �spics� and �Mexicans�, when in fact they could be of any Hispanic origin. Of course, along with this, there was a name that every race could be called. I never understood racial discrimination and isolation. Many people argue that mass immigration should be stopped or slowed because of the many problems associated with mixing our cultures. Immigrants have actually been proven to be vital to our society and its well being. I believe that immigrants are important and essential to the growing diversity and open-mindedness of the American people, despite the many accusations placed upon them.
