English Assignment Refer to two core texts and a related text. Your aim is to examine links and divergence and to account for this. The precise focus of your examination is your own choice. You could examine genre, ideas, motifs, social forces etc. Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein and Bram Stokers Dracula are both texts with a variety of appropriated ideas and themes in each other and both depict their respective culture and their value with their similar ideas. Frankenstein and Dracula both incorporate ideas of Marxist theories and in which how both communities are so quick to get rid of different beings or ideas (Marxist theories) without understanding them initially. Modern day texts also similarly incorporate these ideas in their mainframe such as Disney’s Shrek 2. However Shrek 2 sticks to its time frame and offers a more modern approach to reflect the context of its time, whilst Frankenstein and Dracula do not.
