Twelve Angry Men Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Although the world has come a long way in the fight against prejudice, there still remains a lot of racism in the society today. Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose is a play that dealt with prejudice as its main theme. One juror in this play, known as Juror #8 stated, “Prejudice obscures the truth.” In other words, when you bring prejudice feelings, actions or opinions into a jury room, the truth will never truly be revealed. This statement can be supported by the words and actions of the characters Juror #3, Juror #4, and Juror #10 in the play. It is necessary to understand the outcome that prejudice has on the truth because actions can affect people in many harmful ways. The forceful Juror #3 speaks many prejudice remarks against tough kids throughout the play. Immediately, Juror #3 relates the case of a 19-year-old boy murdering his own father to the relationship he and his son had. “When he was fifteen he hit me in the face… I haven’t seen him in three years. Rotten kid! I hate tough kids, your work your heart out…”(Page 21). This quote is related to the 19 year old boy who is......
