Whaling The Houghton Mifflin definition of Whaling states that, �whaling is the business, or practice of hunting, killing, and processing whales.� Whaling is done for many different reasons such as cultural, scientific, nutrition, and supplies, but are these all justified reasons? Culture is defined as �the patterns, traits, and products considered with respect to a particular category�. Scientific research helps us to learn and understand to be able get where we are today in technology. Nutrition and supplies help us live and work everyday. Without these four fundamental items then we wouldn�t be human. Many are to believe that these are just excuses set up by pro-whaling countries. I believe that these are part of life. It is unknown when humans first started hunting whales, but the earliest archaeological record of whaling is found in South Korea.
