The Early Life of Adolf Hitler
According to Grobman (1990), on April 20, 1889, Adolf Hitler was born to Alois and Klara Hitler. He was born in Braunau, an Austrian town. While he was a young child, Adolf Hitler was known as “Adi”. Throughout Hitler’s childhood he spent years in different villages in Northern Austria. Adolf Hitler was greatly influenced by his strict father and his loving mother (“Adolf Hitler,” 2006a).
According to Waite (1988), Marianne Schicklgruber, a Jewish household worker, had Alois Schicklgruber on June 7, 1887. Since Maria Anna Schicklgruber refused to name the father, her son was registered with the parish under his mother’s maiden name (Steeh, 1980). There is little evidence to show who Alois Hitler’s father was. Johann Hiedler may have been his father, but it’s also possible that Johann’s brother, Johann van Nepomuk Hielder, may have been the father. In addition, there is evidence that Frankenberger, the son of the Jewish family his mother worked for, may have been the father.
