The Wedding of Zein by Tayeb Salih takes place in a small village in Sudan. Each character makes the story remarkable in their own way. I will focus on Ni�ma, who is the daughter of Hajj Ibrahim and Saadiyya. Ni�ma is one of the most important characters in the story of The Wedding of Zein. Ni�ma came from a very wealthy family, and possessed certain characteristics which made her stand out and different from other girls in the village. Ni�ma was the youngest and had three older brothers. As she grew up she was a very serious child, and viewed many issues differently. For example he older brother used to urge her to continue her education, because he believed she had the potential to become a lawyer or a doctor, but Ni�ma did not believe in that type of education. She believed that education in school is a whole lot of nonsense. She believed that it was enough to read and write and to know the Qur�an and the rituals of prayer. Another issue which really stood out to me was the fact that Ni�ma was able to choose who she wanted to marry, and was not up to her father or brothe......
