Daily Life of a Knight Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

A knight was a noble person who was part of the lords force to keep the land safe from invaders and other problems. Not everyone could become a knight. Only the noble and wealthy could become one. Once a knight, you had to follow a code of honour and chivalry. If you were a noble, and you had a son, you would send him to another lord's castle to train as a knight at the age of seven. He was usually sent to the father's friend. Here he would start his education as a page. As a page he learnt to read, write, sing, dance, learn prayers, horse riding skills and of course how to use a sword. At the age of 13, he would be promoted to squire. As a squire, he was taught to use a sword, lance and shield. He was also taught the responsibilities of a knight. Squires would verse each other in mock battles to gain more experience. Squires were also required to clean his masters armour and horses. As the squire got older, he was expected to follow his master into battle and protect him. Some squires became knights early if they performed extremely well on the battlefield, but this was usually......
