Imagine a loved one a victim of suicide. It might be your son or daughter. It could even be your mom or dad. Suicide doesn�t help anyone. There are endless possibilities why a teenager might commit suicide; but there are ways to prevent it and ways to help those who need it. There are infinite reasons to why a teen might commit suicide. "It's hard on teens to try and balance work, play, not to mention school, changing bodies, and fluctuating emotions" (Asala). Suicide can be brought up by triggers of divorce, sexual abuse, a breakup of a relationship, drugs, and alcohol (Pitman). Depression or substance abuse can also lead to suicide (Pitman). It is common in teens that are severely depressed that take drugs, suicidal thoughts and actions may increase (Gorman 61). "Instead of just killing themselves, they feel torn between wanting to end their psychological pain through death and wanting to live" (King 159).
