It’s a Sunday afternoon and your family decides to go visit your grandparents. So you think, okay that will be your good deed of the week and your visitation will be done as well. But visiting your grandparents and doing your good deeds are completely different from what these people did in their visits to others. In “The Use of Force” by William Carlos Williams, he uses the visit of a doctor; in “A Visit of Charity” by Eudora Welty, she uses the visit to an elderly home; and in “The Gift of Sweat” by Rebecca Brown, she uses the visit of an old friend to make a beautiful outcome of life. All these visits prove something different and changed the lives of the characters in the stories.
In the first story “The Use of Force” a doctor is called upon by a family who believes that their daughter is sick.
