Job The Book of Job is the story of a devoted and successful man who has his possessions and his health taken away as a result of challenge presented to God by Satan. God lets Satan take all of Jobs oxen and asses. Job then rent his clothes, shaved his head, and worshipped God. Next Jobs servants and children are killed. Yet, Job is unshaken in his faith and reverence for God. Jobs reply to all the tragedies at this time was, �the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the lord.� In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrongdoing. Satan then returns to God and concedes that Job is still devoted, but contends that Job would curse God if he were to take away Job�s health. Satan proceeds to cover Job�s entire body with sores. Job�s piety still remains �shall we receive the good at the hand of God and not receive the bad?� In all this Job did not sin with his lips.� Job�s three friends, Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar, then visit him. They sit and watch Job�s suffering in silence for 7 days after which Job�s piety begins to wane. He first wishes ......
