Osmosis Coursework by Matthew Dewhurst Plan I am going to find out what happens when different pieces of potatoes are placed into different concentrations of salt solution. I think when I place the different pieces of potatoes, into different concentrations of salt solutions that the mass of the potatoes will change. There will be a higher mass, this will happen to the fewer amounts of salt solutions but however in the high concentrations the mass will be less. This is because in water, it will diffuse across the semi permeable membrane from a higher water concentration to a low concentration, making it more turgid because water diffuses more inside then out. In salt solution it will start with a higher concentration from inside the semi permeable membrane and water diffuses out of it, moving to a low concentration. To prove that my prediction is correct I am going to vary the key factors of the amount of salt solution and I will measure the potato To do this investigation I am going to use the following equipment: � Borer � Boiling tube � Test tube � Weight me......
