In the 1930’s the black people suffered terribly from segregation, then in 1941, America joined the Second World War, during the Second World War the black people had to fight the war in segregated units, they were kept separate from the white soldiers, also, black soldiers were not allowed to become pilots or captain nor were they allowed to become captain. Although they still suffered during WW2, they gained confidence, as they had seen how they were treated in other countries, such as England, also, war creates jobs, and the blacks were employed to manufacture ammunition for the troops, this meant that the black people had an income, so they could pay for education to allow them to vote and to vote more black people into the white house, in 1948, President Harry Truman ordered the desegregation of the U.S army. In the early 1950’s, America went to war with Korea, during this war, the troops fought in combined units and black people were allowed more privileges, such as, becoming pilots and captain of a regiment.
