Jordan Kembel 4/12/06 Thesis Paper WC I Honors Period 1 Causes of Communism in China Through out history China has been what could be called an introvert country. They have kept to themselves and seen other civilizations as inferior. They have had a fear towards progress through out their history. The people of China revere themselves as members of the ?Middle Kingdom?. When Europeans came many treaties were forced on the Chinese. Sinocentrism, paranoia of growth, and forced treaties benefiting Europeans led to the communistic takeover of China. China has always thought itself to be the ?Middle Kingdom?. The Chinese people believed that their emperor was the Son of Heaven and had the Mandate of Heaven and the right to rule China. China considered itself, and was considered by other East Asians to be the ?mother lode? of human culture (Sizer 28). This Sinocentric view was incorporated into their culture. In the five zones of Chinese culture the emperor lays at the middle. The royal family is outside that, followed by lords, culturally receptive neighbors, barbarian allies......
