My father, more Irish than I, has no idea what the title of my paper says . To him it’s just a bunch of letters put together, possibly some foreign language. He was surprised to learn that it is the language of his ancestors, the Irish. The official language of the Emerald Isle is Irish, which is a form of Gaelic. Irish is spoken only in Ireland, mainly in the North-West section known as Gaeltacht. Over 25 million people can claim to be of Irish decent. Only a small few are aware that English is not the native tongue of the Irish. This is due to the English suppression of Irish culture. My paper will examine the cause and reason behind the IRA. For the purpose of this paper I will discuss the IRA, RIRA, CIRA and PIRA as one group in most cases and the Unionist will be a term for members of the UUP, RHF, DUP and Protestants who are in favor of keeping Ireland a part of the United Kingdom. I will also try to discredit the popular misconception that the IRA are terrorists and try to prove that the members of the IRA are actually peaceful Patriots, who chose violence as an act ......
