Most math teachers are not big fans of inclusion in their classroom. Especially in high school where the classes move quickly and the students are required to do a lot of work and learning on their own. As a math teacher myself there have been instances where my classes have had special education students included. I personally have not had any real difficult issues with special ed. students in my Algebra course. I teach a decelerated course for students who need to learn algebra at a slower pace, and slowing it down even more for special needs students has not been a problem. Most of the students I get are the troublemakers of the school, the ones that have failed math 2 or more times. My special needs students seem to be my most diligent and hardest workers. I know that in upper math courses, teachers have a difficult time with special needs students who are included into their classrooms.
