Native American Art is defined as any artwork or craft that was created by anyone who claims their racial orientation to be Native American. This person must be a member of an Indian tribe and their credentials as a Native American must be verified, and they are certified as an Indian artisan by an Indian tribe. The integrity of certain Native American artworks is now protected by an act of Congress that prohibits representation of art as Native American when it is not the product of an enrolled Native American artist. Artwork produced by Natives date back to their arrival to the continent. The Natives where in search for assurance of their culture and that it would be preserved for generations that followed. The hunting of game, farming crops, gathering of water, construction or finding shelter within nature from the expected element of nature and dangers in there environment. Fishing tools, hunting tools, cooking tools and pottery that they made included decorations that were typical for their culture.
