Conventions of the Revolution Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

During the years of 1774 and 1775 a series of events inevitably led to one thing, the American Revolution. Among these events were the meetings of the first and second continental congress. These two conventions organized protest against the Great Britain and united the American colonies. In 1774 the cruel nature of the Intolerable Act led all the colonies except Georgia to send representatives to a meeting in Philadelphia. The convention was held in the latter part of 1774 in September, it was later known as the first continental congress. The convention’s purpose was to discuss how colonist should react to the threat that Great Britain was imposing on their rights. The colonist simply wanted to have the same relationship with Great Britain as they had before the French and Indian war. The role of the convention was like that of a guidance counselor. The delegates of the convention listened to what the colonist wanted and worked with them to come up with a solution to their problem.
