People today have based their attitudes towards African Americans as a result of the early Americans economic and racial views. The English settlers in the new world used the Africans to make more money which made them look down on the Africans. Even the people in the highest offices of the government thought they were better than the Africans. Also the unethical treatment of them in the early years has had a great impact on the way people think em today many people today are ok with Africans but there are still a few that look down on blacks. Our contemporary views today are very diverse. Many people today are not racist but on the other hand many people are very against African Americans. Many people discriminate with out knowing they are doing it which shows we get many of our thoughts and attitudes towards race from the seventeenth century when slaves where looked down upon.
