The two poems I will be comparing and contrasting are Christina Rossetti�s �Remember� and �The Chimney Sweeper� by William Blake. �Remember� is about dealing with death and the grief of your loved one. The poem is told in the narrative person so you feel like you are communicating with the writer. �The Chimney Sweeper� is about the plight and suffering of children during the Industrial Revolution. The first poem I will be talking about is Christina Rossetti�s �Remember�. This poem was written between 1830-1850. She wrote her poem in the late Romantic, early Victorian period. The poem deals with death, sorrow and grieving for the one you lost. Christina Rossetti was especially known for dealing with religious and spiritual issues such as death. Rossetti uses the theme of death very well in this poem and it makes the mood very sombre. It starts off by the dead person asking to be remembered �Remember me when I am gone away�. Then it has a sort of analogy of heaven �into the silent land�. This makes heaven seem very calm and quiet. Then it talks about when you lose someone you ca......
