Adam Livngston Buddhism September 20, 2006 Buddhism as the story is told began back in the time of 563 B.C.E. when Queen Maya the mother of Siddartha (Buddha) the night before conceiving him she had a dream that she was lying on couch in a golden mansion in the Himalayas. There Buddha came to her as a white elephant carrying a white lotus flower in his trunk. He touched on her right side and entered her womb. Around her time of deliverance the queen was traveling, and somewhere along the way she gave birth to Buddha in a sal grove while standing upright as angels caught the young Buddha in a golden net. It is there where after his birth he stood, walked, cried out that he is supreme in the world, that this was his last birth, and that there should be no other birth for him. He then became known as Prince Shiddartha when at nineteen he married a neighboring princess by the name of Yashodhara. From her came Shidddartha�s son Rahula. After the birth of his son he had done his duty according to the Brahmanic custom. From there Shiddartha wanted to see the world, but his father thinking......
