I did my paper on Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Ms. Browning was born on March 6, 1809, at Coxhoe Hall, Durham, England, and she died at Casa Guidi, Florence, June 29, 1861. She was the daughter of Edward and Mary Moulton-Barrett. She spent her youth at Hope End, near Great Malvern. She was educated at home, but owed her profound knowledge of Greek and much mental stimulus to her early friendship with the blind scholar, Hugh Stuart Boyd, who was a neighbor. Almost before her childhood had passed, she showed remarkable preferences for the arts, but especially for the poetic art. Her studies were early directed to the poets of antiquity, and, under the guidance of her blind tutor, Boyle, whose name she always warmly cherished, she mastered the rich treasures of Aeschylus.
