The document being reviewed is Franklin D. Roosevelt's "Quarantine Speech" in 1937. In this speech, Franklin D. Roosevelt is trying to make American's understand that to keep the peace in our country, we have to be ready for war. We have to acknowledge that other countries are breaking their word and are doing things such as killing people. If we sit back and pretend like nothing is going to happen to us, the results of an attack would be disasterous. Pearl Harbor is a good example of isolationism at its worst. Roosevelt felt that events would eventually happen because the country would not prepare. Roosevelt was trying to warn Americans, telling them that we needed to keep our guard up because other countries were not respecting and abiding by international agreements. They were not continuing with what they agreed in the peace treaties prior to WWII. The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919. The actual costs, for Germany, included: the guilt of the entire war and, paying 132 billion gold marks in reparations. Germany also lost one eighth of its land, all of its colo......
