Summary – John Howard Griffin, the main character as well as the author of the Book, is concerning about the racial conflict that appears in the society. He was urging to find out how did the black people think of this issue, also he was wondering how was the black people’s daily life should be. Due to all of the issues and with the support of his family and friends, Griffin finally decided to undergo the medical treatment to change the color of his skin and become a member of the black society, in order to help the black people and to lower the racial conflict. At New Orleans, Griffin experienced how difficult the black people’s life. White people always insulting the black people by calling them nigger, and all of the human rights seems didn’t belong to the black people. Therefore Griffin decided to go to the Deep South of Mississippi and Alabama.
