Convenience has become the ideal of the twentieth century. From the microwave to the internet, people are finding more ways to do as much as possible by doing as little as possible. However, there are many adverse effects to becoming less involved with the processes involved in creating the products that we use. In his book, Last Child in the Woods, Richard Louv cites several possible side effects, such as ADD, obesity and many others. Because of the possibility of his argument being true, we must take seriously the different causes of the “nature-deficit disorder” that Louv describes and how to counteract them. (Louv 98-111)
