“One of Shakespeare’s best known plays, Twelfth Night, is about topics that remain relevant today—mistaken identity, love, and obsessive behavior such as lust and excessive drinking.”˚ In order to modernize the play, yet to satisfy the plot of the original masterpiece, I have situated it into a twenty first century perspective and brought it into the technologically advanced world of cell phones, video surveillance, and television sets. This scene creates a more developed atmosphere and allows for further comical pleasures. The clever use of technological devices makes for enjoyable and more appreciative displays of action, comedy, love, lust, mistaken identities, and outrageous behavior to name a few. Twelfth Night’s older, grammatical English text and the sophisticated gadgets contribute to an appealing and a dynamic plot. I chose an undoubtedly both amusing and somewhat pathetic scene where Malvolio is tricked by Maria and company into thinking that his lady Olivia has immense affection for him. In this modernized portrayal of Twelfth Night......
