INTRODUCTION My goal is to talk about what diabetes is and how it affects nationally. If not aware it is a major killer. I chose to talk about this subject because it hits home for me my daddy has it. Even though he is in his forties it even affects younger people even children. I discuss the complications the treatment that are out there to keep people aware with or without the disease. LITERATURE REVIEW What is Diabetes? Diabetes mellitus is a group of disease marked by high levels of blood glucose from defects in insulin production, insulin action, or both. There are two types of diabetes. Type1 and type2; Type1 was previously called insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) or juvenile-onset diabetes. It develops when the body�s immune system destroys pancreatic beta cells the only body part that make the hormone insulin that regulates blood glucose.
