Developing Communication in the Work Place Developing personal skill such as listening, verbal and nonverbal messages and interpersonal skill will help improve how a person communicates at work, and in work groups. Developing personal skill directly affects success or failure in the workplace. Adler and Elmhorst identify listening, interpersonal skills and verbal/nonverbal communication as key elements of personal skill. In this paper I will talk about their importance and how it affects communication in the workplace. I will also describe one area in communication of personal interest that is directly affected by the development of personal skills.
