A Comparison of A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry and A StreetCar Named Desire by Tennessee Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

As an English assignment we have to compare the conflicts of two books. One of the mandatory books needed for the assignment was A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. The other book was a choice out of five other books, and I picked A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams. A major viewpoint in Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun and Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire class, and gender affect the lives of different characters throughout the play. The two world wars that had taken place during the time period of these books disheveled the roles of women and men. A lot of the masculine jobs were left for women as they fought in wars but as the fifties came back the man reclaimed their jobs which regained their pre-existing domineering role in society. In A Streetcar Named Desire, Stella tells Blanche about Stanley's companions. Referring to Mitch, Pablo, and Steve. Blanche predicts that Stanley and his friends are not going anywhere in life. Blanche is not used to their “kind” or should say of their manner. Blanche and Stella are used to rich lifestyle......
