Franklin D. Roosevelt had impacted the United States greatly during the Great Depression. President Franklin Roosevelt�s �New Deal� fought the Great Depression on a number of fronts. In the famous "First Hundred Days" of his presidency, FDR pushed through legislation that reformed the banking and financial sectors, tried to cure the ills afflicting American agriculture, and attempted to revive the American industry. To meet the immediate crisis of starvation and the dire needs of the nation's unemployed, FDR provided direct cash relief for the poor and jobs programs. Roosevelt�s policies and actions helped reshape the devastating economic depression that the United States was facing. Early in the Great Depression, too many people were demanding their deposits in cash, and banks would have easily failed. However, Roosevelt had driven congress to take another step to reorganize the banking system by passing the Glass-Steagall Banking Act. This act created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., which provided federal insurance for individual bank accounts of less than five thousand doll......
