Two Factors that can affect the Behaviors of Gamblers: Illusion of Control and Sensation Seeking. Courtney Little 0221878 March 1, 2006 Jenny Eastabrook Lab Group G Abstract The purpose to this study was to find out if sensation seeking and illusion of control related to the severity of an individuals gambling habit. The study involved 28 university students who were asked to take a survey. The participants were all from first year psychology at Trent University. The group of participants contained 4 males and 24 females. The results of this survey were not as predicted and only one of the three predictions was proven. It was shown that there was no correlation between sensation seeking and illusion of control it was predicted that there would be a relationship between the two. It was also shown that gamblers did not score higher on sensation seeking, they were predicted to score higher.
