Violence in Death of a Salesman Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In Death of a Saleman, Arthur Miller illustrations the harsh and destructive atmosphere of the violent business world that Willy Loman inhabits throughout the play. The Loman family has deal with all the rage that affects Willy, by painfully listening to his belligerent tirades and vicious uproars. Willy Loman is tired of living in a society, which stresses the deceptive belief, that being “well-liked” (Miller 21) is essential to capturing the “American Dream.” Arthur Miller uses aggressive actions and callous language to exemplify the aggravation that the characters are put through. This display of personal agony is expressed by violent language, which then forms a surrounding of tension and hostility towards the Loman household, but, most of all, the world that Willy lives. Willy’s hatred towards the business world, exemplifies a heated cannon that with a strike of a match can cause a violent explosion.
