Franklin Delano Roosevelt In the early 1930s, the United States has yet to face a new era of happiness and difficulty. The United States was in great need for new hope and sensation, and only one great man could provide the nation’s desperate needs. As the new elected president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt manages to find solutions that would solve the nation’s problem. Through his actions, loyalty and devotion towards his own country he was known to be the Greatest President of the 20th Century. When President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered his first inaugural address on March 4, 1933, he knew that the millions of Americans listening needed a combination of hope. The Great Depression had battered the nation for more than three long and painful years, and the economic situation was desperate. Roosevelt announced an end to the bureaucratic stagnation that had overwhelmed the administration of his predecessor, Herbert Hoover. "The Nation asks for action, and action now," Roosevelt said.
