An architecture can be defined simply as the portion of a system that provides and manages the primitive resources of an agent. For a cognitive architecture, these resources define the substrate upon which a physical symbol system is realized. The many issues surrounding the choice, definition, extent, and limits of these resources and their management is one of the purposes of this document. This analysis attempts to assist in determining the necessary, sufficient and optimal distribution of resources to the development of agents exhibiting general intelligence. Architecture does not always have to be spectacular, just like music is not always to make us dance. Architecture, like music, creates different moods with its different styles. General belief that architecture is to be found only in monuments, and not in common urban houses that we presently live in, is false.
