Malaysia is located in Southeast Asia. It has a population of about 26,849,336 Malays. The language in which Malays speak is called Malay, and their current type of government is federal constitutional monarchy. Britain, had established its first colony in the Malay peninsula in 1786. Malaysia was colonized by the British, because the British intended to gain more control over land, increase its economic revenues, expand their colonial rule, and to encourage ethnic divisions. Britain had so much control over many things. Its rule over Malaysia had many forms. For example, Britain had direct colonial rule in the Straits Settlements, which was a colony they had formed in 1826 that included Melaka and the islands of Penang and Singapore. Another example would be that they also had family control by the Brookes in Sarawak, and even corporate control in the North of Borneo.
