History plays a huge role in who and what we are today. To think that if just one thing was changed in the past, then our whole way of life would be different is preposterous. David C. History is who we are and why we are the way we are.� Though we may never know for sure what the differences in our lives would be from the outcome of one event, one could only imagine what that life would be like. When settlers first came to the New World, they were looking for a new life. They established Jamestown in 1607 but were struggling to survive. After colonist, John Rolfe introduced tobacco around 1612 the new colony flourished because of its fertile soil along the banks of the James River. Though this was a good start, the colonists still feared that they would lose their investment. In an effort to get more people to come to the new land, they offered what was known as Head Rights.
