Vengeance is Theme Vengeance is presented throughout major key events in The Odyssey written by Homer. It is the main theme of this epic poem and shows how three people live and fight in order to make their revenge. For every conflict in the poem, it is because of a character�s thirst for vengeance. Three characters that show this mostly are Odysseus: who�s in need to avenge the disrespect of the suitors, Poseidon�s need to punish Odysseus throughout the poem, and Telemachus�s need to punish the suitors for courting his mother and to be seen as a heir to his fathers throne. All these characters show how they get through obstacles to get their vengeance. Odysseus is one of the few key characters that faced harsh trials as he travels to sea. First off, he is punished by Poseidon during many trips in the Sea. Then when he finally reaches his home in Ithaca, he finds many suitors desperately trying to take his wife away from him. He receives great inner pain as he finds out that they have no respect for him or his estate in his home town. After seeing all of this, he quickly ......
