Invest in Someone The story of the Good Samaritan is a parable that Jesus uses to teach about loving your neighbor. The scripture begins with a Pharisee asking Jesus which is the greatest commandment in the Law? Jesus replies �Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.� The parable is to teach us how to love our neighbor. We always focus on the one person that stopped to help. What about the two that didn�t stop? Have you ever wondered why? Was it fear, too busy, not wanting to get involved, if I stop, maybe the same thing will happen to me? In our culture today it is easy to leave the �doing� to others. Our lives are busy and complex. Our culture teaches us that �we are the most important person�. Individualism tells us we are supposed to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps. We need to help ourselves and if we can, so can they.
