A villians death-an insight on Hamlet Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The themes that occur within Hamlet are many. One of the strongest motifs is death; the thoughts of suicide, and killing others. However when the lead character Hamlet, discusses and becomes obsessed with his own suicide, he is projecting this yearning for death onto the character Claudius (the king). These happenings occur through Hamlets several soliloquies that are spoken through the play. These occur all through out the play. Thus leading to see, that Hamlet has been projecting his suicidal thoughts all along. That at the end of the play when Hamlet does kill Claudius. It is him fufilling every single wish that he has. There fore the projection is turned back upon himself, and Hamlet dies. Some of the strongest examples of this 'projection' is the usage of the word villain. Here with in a soliloquy Hamlet refers to himself as a villan ...Am I a coward? Who calls me villain? Breaks my pate across Plucks off my beard, and blows it in my face Tweaks me by the nose? gives me the lie i'the throat As deep to the lungs? Who do......
