The Civil War was originally meant to fix the grievances that the North and the South had with each other, but rather then fixing these grievances the Civil War only made the grievances between them worse. Many of the grievances between the North and the South had to do with racial problems, economical differences, and the election of President Lincoln. These grievances were still not fixed till the end of the reconstruction period.
After the Civil War the question of slavery and the treatment of Africans were still unanswered. Slavery and the treatment of Africans were one of the major causes of the Civil War. Even thought Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation many of the Confederate states did not free their slaves. Both the North and the South had exceedingly different beliefs about slavery. On one hand the South thought it was okay because it was the main source of their economy (helped economy). While on the other hand the North thought that slavery was bad not only because it hurt their economy but that the slaves were being treated so poorly. Even......
