Imagine your teacher telling you that you have to leave everything you know and love behind to go perform a certain task in a totally alien world. There are twelve stages of a hero’s journey and those stages are the framework that should be fleshed out with the details and surprises of the individual story. The movie Star Wars illustrates most of the characteristics. Some of the characteristics are not as obvious as the others that stand out. There are three stages that stand out the most in the movie. The stages of the hero’s journey in Star Wars that are most evident are the “mentor” stage, the “tests, enemies, and allies” stage, and the “refusal to the call” stage. The first stage that was present was the mentor stage. The function of the mentor is to prepare the hero for the unknown world and gives him advice and guidance. Luke Skywalkers mentor was Obi-Wan-Kenobi. Luke met him when R2-D2 was looking for his master who happened to be Obi-Wan-Kenobi.
