Colonial Development from 1700-1800 The purpose of this essay is to explain the historical development of the Thirteen Colonies in the time period 1700-1800. It will be shown that the development of the colonies in the south and north differed in this time period socially, economically, and politically and ultimately leads to their independence from Britain. As the colonies developed, independence from Britain became essential and the need for it grew until the outbreak of the Revolutionary War in 1776. During the early years of America’s development the southern colonies relied on a plantation society based on slave labor to make the plantation farms as functional and efficient as possible. The southern colonies grew non-English products such as tobacco, rice, and sugar which led to England favoring the south more because the colonies were seen as more beneficiary for England’s economy. In contrast, the northern colonies consisted of an industrial economy. The north was known to be more dominant, political, religious, family-oriented, and wealthy. The important politica......
