I was born on August 15, 1769 in Ajaccio, Corsica. I should probably tell you right off the bat that Napoleon Bonaparte was not the name given to me at birth. My real name is Napoleone di Buonaparte, later in life I decided that my name didn’t sound nearly French enough, so I adopted Napoleon Bonaparte as my name. You see, I am actually Itallian. My father, Carlo Buonaparte, worked as an attourney until 1778 when he was named Corsica's representative to the court of Louis XVI of France. My dad wasn’t around too much when I was a kid though, my mom was around more than him, her name was Maria Letizia Ramolino and let me tell you, that woman really believed in discipline. She tamed me a lot as a child, I was quite the trouble maker. I guess I was given a lot more opportunities as a child because of my families standing in the community, my father sent me to one of the best schools around. I never did learn how to spell correctly and I still speak with an accent, but no one is perfect. In fact, my spelling is so horrible, I am having someone write this as I speak it at this very mome......
