A2. There are two options that exist here:
1. Continue with the current installation process and negotiate with KFS to avoid sending wrong type of replacement seats, and leave the problem in doubt.
2. Set the process for handling defective seats follow TPS, find out exactly the root cause, and no longer allow the routine to deviate from standard TPS practices
To find out which one is better, we must evaluate the costs of these two options.
In the first option, it seems that TMM can produce cars more quickly (no need to stop the production line when error occurred). However, as the number of defect cars was accumulated day by day, it caused TMM to waste money and time for replacement seats and keeping the defective cars in their warehouses, and also for paying overtime work. In addition, this option depended much on KFS’s effort. What happens if they continued sending wrong type of replacement seats?
