Hamlet essay In this essay I will evaluate the significance of Act 3 scene 1 to the play as a whole. Before this scene Hamlet�s father had been killed by his brother Claudius, Hamlets uncle. Hamlet had found out by his father returning as a ghost and telling Hamlet about his own death. Also Claudius had married Hamlet�s mother Gertrude. The characters involved in Act 3 scene 1 are Claudius, Hamlet, Gertrude, Ophelia,(Hamlet�s girlfriend ) , Polonius (Ophelia�s father) and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern ( good friends of Hamlet).This scene is essential to the plot because it gives an insight of what happens in the rest of the play. This scene reveals more about several characters including Gertrude and Polonius. One of the three themes I feel are discussed in this scene is deception. Shakespeare focuses our attention on this theme by using characters, imagery And language to portray this theme which is not only involved in this scene but is carried throughout the rest of the play. The main form of deception in the play is showed through the characters; Ophelia and Hamlet. P......
