POPULAR CULTURE TERM PAPER Introduction In my project, I would like to examine two of the most popular magazines in Turkey, namely Alem and Haftasonu. I am going to compare and contrast the two; in terms of their focus groups, that is what kind of personalities dominate the news in the magazines; whether there are differences or some common features among these personalities, how each magazine identify itself and distinguish itself from the other and if this distinction is a valid and significant one, how people�s responses and reactions highly dependent on the quality and attributions of the magazine. To begin with, Haftasonu is being published for 38 years and it has a constant place among the best seller magazines throughout these years. One reason for its great number of circulation is its affordable price. Haftasonu is 1 YTL, whereas Alem is 4 YTL. The target group of the former is obviously larger than the latter�s.
